According to Bloomberg, CoreWeave widened the spread on its debt package to 5.5 percentage points over the benchmark and cut the offer price to 97 cents per dollar, up from an initial 99 cents. The loan finances additional GPU capacity for customers including Anthropic.
This is a credit-market reality check on the AI buildout. Equity investors can still dream big, but lenders want cash flow, collateral, and a margin of safety when the borrower is piling into expensive infrastructure tied to a handful of giant customers. CoreWeave's pricing concessions suggest lenders are repricing AI infrastructure risk.
The market is drawing a line between AI demand and AI finance. Plenty of people believe Anthropic and its peers need more compute. They are less eager to underwrite every shovelful of debt used to build it, especially when bubble talk is getting louder. That matters beyond CoreWeave, because the whole AI supply chain has been priced as if funding would stay easy. A wider spread and a bigger discount say the cost of that assumption just went up to 5.5 points over the benchmark.
