At Unpacked in 2026, Samsung detailed its upcoming smart glasses after months of teasing. According to Engadget, the glasses run Qualcomm's Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1, deliver nine hours per charge with seven additional charges in the case, and support Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.3. Features include visual search, live translation, and on-device AI processing. There's no built-in display.
Samsung is making a deliberate trade: wearability over ambition. By ditching the display, the company avoids the bulk and battery drain that killed earlier AR glasses. These land closer to AI audio assistants than to mixed-reality headsets, which makes them easier to wear all day. But it also makes them harder to justify if the features feel like phone capabilities strapped to your face.
Samsung is chasing the least embarrassing version of smart glasses. If people actually wear these, nine hours matters more than a flashy display spec, and on-device AI matters more than a tiny overlay that screams first-generation gadget. Without a screen, Samsung has to prove these do something your phone and earbuds cannot already do.
