Product leadership at major platforms is supposed to set direction and prove it works. At X, the role has become a revolving door under Elon Musk. Employees, creators, and advertisers have no idea whether any roadmap survives the next executive shuffle or owner impulse.
The question is whether X maintains momentum on the features Bier flagged—especially the delayed payments push. If that stalls under the new leadership, this looks less like a handoff and more like another reset.
Bier's exit shows who really runs product at X. Musk does. You can ship feature updates and patch bugs, but annual leadership changes teach users the platform has features, not strategy. Taylor, Katz, and Singhai will face the same ceiling.
